Starting 3/11/17 at 12 AM CST and ending Sunday 3/12/17 at 12 AM CST, I will start a 24 Comic Pages in 24 Hours Challenge.
This challenge is to push artists to set up and pursue a goal in 24 hours: 24 comic pages, 24 icons, 24 drabbles, etc. before the 24 hour mark. Whether small or large-scale, the 24/24 Challenge will give you a new world of art/writing expression you are not used to, something out of your comfort zone. What better way than to do it during this challenge with me?
Preferably, to keep yourself on track, set up a Join-me or Livestream link explaining what you are drawing/writing at the time, and advertise/tell your friends about this challenge before it starts. Send me your streaming link, and I will advertise it as well.
I will specifically be sending out a Join-me link showing me drawing traditionally (pen and paper) with a plugged in microphone so I may speak and answer questions, and I am doing as many comic pages as possible (for an unknown comic idea) in those 24 hours starting 12 AM CST midnight.
This will be the first time we are doing the challenge traditionally. The key is using Join Me's "video call", but instead of showing your face, you show what you are drawing (so pull the webcam down, or attach a camera you can position to show your paper on your desk).
I have test drived it with others, and it works. The 24/24 join livestream will look like this. Feel free to join in even in the middle or end of the 24 hours to draw as well. That is the whole point: to inspire artists to be a part of the challenge, even if it has to be at the end!
24/24 THINGS TO NOTE:
1. Those interested in participating in the 24/24 will be given the Join Me link an hour early (at 3/11/17 at 11 PM CST) (SO TELL ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING EARLY) to troubleshoot and set up your traditional webcams, cameras, laptops, iPads (what I will be using), phones duct taped to stands (lol), etc.
Yes, you can still do a digital 24/24 challenge, but you will have to send me a separate join me link instead of the same join me link as others (that is benefit of going traditional, because we can have multiple webcams on one join me)!
2. When 24 hours end, we will all scan in our work, send me the Stash link to all your pages, and we will view and read your comic on my desktop, to end the stream!
^ We will not look this aesthetically beautiful after 24 hours. This might be more accurate.
I will be sleep-deprived. I may practically sound drunk. By the end of this challenge, I would like the effect to be all of us keeping each other on track while we create something for a full day. No excuses, no more "looking for inspiration/waiting for motivation" asides, and no more fear.
Create something with others, and watch others create something at the same time.
AND DO NOT BE AFRAID IF YOU ARE "NOT GOOD ENOUGH." I will put your Livestream/Join-Me/streaming link on this journal entry regardless of your skill level. Whether you think you are good enough has nothing to do with the motivation to sit down and draw out a series of pictures/write a series of stories/create works with a pattern.
If you cannot stream live, for as many hours as possible, send an hour update to this journal of each page/picture you were able to draw that hour. You can draw digitally or traditionally. It is up to you.
PEOPLE WILL BE SURPRISED HOW MUCH THEY CAN GET DONE IF THE FEELING OF A DEADLINE POPS UP.
Ask me any questions! See you Saturday!
